Roundtable with the public of Kherson region

On February 4, 2022, a roundtable discussion on “The Role of NGOs in the Rule of Law” was held in Kherson. The meeting was organized by Free Nation libertarian movement. The initiators of the event set out to hold similar events in every region of Ukraine. They have already been held in Dnipro, Nizhyn, Kharkiv, Lviv, Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, Zaporizhzhia, and Mykolaiv.

Ihor Hurin, leader of “Free Nation”, said:

We are looking for allies to identify problems that we can solve not with words, but with deeds! The heads of local NGOs know more about local authorities. Everything depends on us, so we came to hear you! We need to strengthen the role of the public sector to influence the authorities in this way.

Dmytro Karliuk, head of the Kherson Oblast “Impulse” NGO, said:

The idea of uniting will significantly help solve significant problems on the ground.

A similar position was expressed by Borys Romanchenko, a member of the NGO “Rozvytok”:

If we reach a level where we will be heard, this will be the initial result.

Results

The participants of the meeting presented the activities of their organizations and voiced the main problems of the region and the country. Civic leaders supported the idea of unification and signed memorandums of cooperation with Free Nation libertarian public movement. Now, active residents of Kherson will be able to communicate with like-minded people from other regions. Free Nation continues to unite Ukraine and is preparing the next roundtables.
