Mark Voyger, who currently serves as the Director of the Master’s Program in Global Management and an Associate Professor at the American University in Kyiv, has become an active member of the leadership of the public movement “Free Nation”.
Mark Voyger boasts an impressive academic and professional background in international relations and security. He holds a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy degree from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, with a focus on Russia-NATO relations. He also holds a Master of Public Administration degree from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, and has pursued a Ph.D. in Middle Eastern Studies at Cambridge University, UK.
One of Mr. Voyger’s remarkable attributes is his fluency in multiple languages, including English, Ukrainian, Bulgarian, Arabic, Turkish, French, Spanish, Russian, and Italian. This proficiency allows him to effectively communicate and work in various countries and cultures.
Mr. Voyger also serves as a Senior Non-Resident Fellow at the Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA) in Washington, D.C. In the spring of 2021, he taught International Security and Politics at the US Army College in Carlisle, PA. He has previously held positions as Vice President for Strategic Studies and Multi-National Programs with TheTacNet.com, an online training company based in Virginia, USA. From 2019 to 2020, he was a Senior Scholar at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement in Washington, D.C. In 2018-2019, he taught Russian and Eastern European politics and security as the Senior Lecturer at the Baltic Defence College in Tartu, Estonia. Prior to his academic career, from 2013 to 2018, he served as the Special Advisor for Russian and Eurasian Affairs to the Commanding General of US Army Europe in Wiesbaden, Germany, and as the Cultural Advisor and Senior Russia Expert at NATO’s Allied Land Command in Izmir, Turkey. Between 2009 and 2013, he was deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan as an advisor and social scientist with the US Army. Furthermore, he contributed to Senator Mitt Romney’s Presidential campaigns as a member of the Executive Department (2007-2008) and the Russia Advisory Group (2011-2012).
Mark Voyger’s primary areas of academic and professional expertise encompass Eastern European, Balkan, and Middle Eastern politics and security issues, Russian foreign and security policy, Russian military strategies and doctrine, hybrid warfare, as well as transnational Islamist ideologies and movements. He has published articles on these topics in journals across Ukraine, the Baltic States, Poland, and elsewhere. Additionally, he frequently provides television interviews and lectures at think tanks, universities, and military commands in the United States and Europe. Mr. Voyger is also the editor of a book on NATO, Russia, and the Baltic States published by the Baltic Defence College in Tartu, Estonia, in 2019.
