The 15th anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Georgia is an important historical date that reminds us of the horrific events that took place on August 7, 2008. It was a time of great challenge for Georgia’s national dignity and territorial integrity, and a test for the international community in ensuring peace and stability in the region.
The military conflict lasted only a few days, but its consequences were striking. Georgia lost control over parts of its territory, and Russia recognized the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, which led to a sharp international conflict and violation of the principles of international law.
Unfortunately, this war left a deep mark in the hearts of thousands of people who lost their loved ones, homes, and hopes for a peaceful future. 15 years have passed, but the issue of Georgia’s territorial integrity has not been resolved and remains a topical issue in the international community.
It is very unfortunate that the current Georgian government does not want to return the territory and acts entirely in the interests of Russia, as opposed to the people of Georgia. The war in Georgia shows that the world has not learned any lessons since then, which has led to the war now.
It is worth noting that even before Russia’s invasion of Georgia, the sub-empire had already shed a lot of blood in Chechnya, Karabakh, Libya and Syria, and since Russia is the successor to the USSR, the list can be extended with countries from almost all continents.
